Sherry Elliott Administrator of the Year Award Initiative

Sherry C. Elliott, M.B.A, dedicated more than 40 years to serving the MCV Campus. While in the Department of Radiology as the Department Administrator and later the Vice Chair of Administration and Operations, she also served as interim Department Administrator at various times for Orthopaedics, Surgery, Human Genetics and Radiation Oncology to name a few.

To honor her legacy at VCU, alumni and other donors are establishing a fund to support administrative staff in pursuing educational and professional development opportunities. This annual award will be given to the administrator who demonstrates the work ethic, compassion, attitude and tenacity that defined Sherry’s career.

Your gift will help grow this initiative, strengthening the School of Medicine’s core value of lifelong learning by empowering staff members to continue developing their skills and advancing our life-changing and lifesaving missions.

Most recently, Sherry’s contributions were essential to the Department of Radiology’s creation of a remote faculty model through which out-of-state radiologists – including alumni – could help address a national staffing shortage. Sherry oversaw a multistep process to ensure the program’s success, securing business licenses, obtaining malpractice insurance, managing credentialing, and coordinating the setup of home workstations that enabled the radiologists to read images and provide results across state lines. Her partnership in the effort reflects her forward-thinking approach and lasting impact on the institution.

Sherry is a two-time VCU alumna from the School of Business.

The Sherry Elliott Administrator of the Year Award Initiative requires a minimum amount of gifts to be received no later than June 30, 2028. If the Sherry Elliott Administrator of the Year Award Initiative does not meet this funding deadline, all gifts will be used for faculty support and development at the discretion of the Dean for the VCU School of Medicine. Donors may not redirect their gifts to other initiatives if the Sherry Elliott Administrator of the Year Award Initiative does not meet fundraising goals.
