About

Attending college while in recovery can be difficult. Substance use can be prevalent in college, and the stress of managing a challenging course load alongside other responsibilities like jobs and caregiving can make it difficult for students to sustain recovery.

Rams in Recovery provides the resources students need to maintain recovery while pursuing their academic goals.

Through the Recovery Scholars program, Rams in Recovery offers students a financial award for fulfilling requirements such as participating in weekly recovery-focused seminars, attending community events, following a recovery plan and serving the community.

The impact of the Recovery Scholars program since its 2019 creation has been remarkable.

More than 90% of students who participate in the scholars program stay in school and earn higher GPAs than the VCU average. The longer students are enrolled in the program, the higher their GPAs are.

We invite you to support Rams in Recovery during National Recovery Month in September to help students prioritize their recovery and achieve their goals at VCU and beyond. With your support, more students can maintain recovery, earn their degrees and contribute to our communities.

Your gift can change a student’s life.
