Alicia Gaston, Ed.D. (Ed.D.’25): Dr. Zalika Etienne (M.Ed '98, B.S. '98) was an amazing mentor. She had me thinking outside the box about how I could use my education degrees in the workplace as well as through my nonprofit work. I appreciated her flexibility in meeting every two weeks and I always looked forward to our time together despite living in different states. I feel confident that I can either secure a job in the field of education or use the resources and skills I have acquired to enhance and merge my existing career paths (behavioral health and nonprofit education). Thank you, BAC Mentoring Circle, for this opportunity!
Maliah Dew (B.S.’24): Marisa Watkins (B.S.'08) was a great, great mentor. I am extremely grateful for the time allotted to our meetings and constructive feedback she gave me.
Mentor testimonials
Danielle Fife (B.A.’15): This is my eighth year doing the Mentoring Circle, and each year gets better and better.
Patricia Hill (Ph.D. '05, M.S.W '83): I am honored to have had the opportunity to mentor Elicia through her last year of the M.S.W. program. This was a great match, and we had much in common on several levels. She is very committed to the social work profession, compassionate, energetic and open to learning. We met regularly despite potential distractions. These meetings were reciprocal in information sharing, and Elicia reported feeling supported and getting the resources she needed. I am looking forward to hearing about her contributions to the community and the profession.
